Here we are at the end of another year and the beginning of a new one.

It’s the Winter Solstice weekend, coinciding with a full moon, which seems to be a rare event.  In pagan cultures, Winter Solstice is associated with pomegranates which symbolize prosperity.  So I wish you all a prosperous Solstice, holiday season and New Year, in all your endeavours.

Here are two of my poems on pomegranates:

In my writing endeavours, Ripples on the Pond  has had a busy year, with good reviews on Amazon and Goodreads and I love this last one.

Thank you Sebnem Sanders for a beautiful work of art.

Meanwhile, I had stories published at online literary magazines, worked on my WIPs, and decided to edit/re-write The Child of Heaven, my first completed manuscript, which I haven’t touched for three years. I will publish it some time in 2019, whenever it’s ready.    https://sebnemsanders.wordpress.com/book-excerpts/

The Child of Heaven-5

This is a working cover, just to give you an idea.

On the eastern shores of the Southern Aegean, Spring was inspirational, the Summer long and hot, lasting until October.

The major celestial event for me was the Blood Moon Lunar Eclipse in July which we could see here.  I wrote a story about that, inspired by this photo.

For the New Year, we all make resolutions and wishes with the intention to realize them. So I light candles and ask the angels to help me carry out my plans. The word is mimimise; belongings, clutter, those extra, unnecessary  words and repetitions in my writing, at home, and in my life.  I hope I can do it, this time, like the MC Leila does in The Child of Heaven.

New Year

Dear fellow writers, friends, and followers, many thanks for your support and encouragement.

Now that the longest night is over, may the light shine upon you to make your dreams come true. Season’s Greetings and all good wishes to you and yours.

Sebnem 🙂

Easter Egg Limoges

 Easter Egg by Limoges

[in Just-]

By E. E. Cummings

in Just-
spring          when the world is mud-
luscious the little
lame balloonman
whistles          far          and wee
and eddieandbill come
running from marbles and
piracies and it’s
spring
when the world is puddle-wonderful
the queer
old balloonman whistles
far          and             wee
and bettyandisbel come dancing
from hop-scotch and jump-rope and
it’s
spring
and
         the
                  goat-footed
balloonMan          whistles
far
and
wee

Happy Winter Solstice, Season’s Greetings and Happy New Year! The Pomegranate Tree

Something from the past!

The Pomegranate Tree

The crimson blossoms of

the pomegranate tree in springtime,

turn into magical red globes during summer,

giving us ample fruit with sparkling ruby seeds inside.

A treasure within a treasure,

a chest within a chest,

one that contains many,

each seed from the heavens,

a sacred gift of Mother Nature,

heralding prosperity, nourishment, and health.

Let’s tie many coloured ribbons on the tree of plenty

and make wishes for happiness, peace and oneness.

Although Saint Nicholas has his home in these lands,

he’s busy carrying gifts to other children around the world,

but will be here on the 31st to celebrate

New Year’s Eve.

Let’s hope our tree will attract

the birds and creatures upon Gaia and

when the gathering is complete,

with a full audience,

we’ll crack the pomegranates on the ground,

spreading prosperity around the globe,

to all the children and people of the world.

eternal cycle, hope, mother nature, promise, prosperity, spring

Puffy grass like a goose down duvet

resplendent with daisies, yellow dandelions,

buttercups and a myriad of wildflowers

that flourish without care,

poppies that pop up everywhere,

sacred earth preserves their seeds

since the beginning of time,

all they need is rain and sunshine,

after a short period of rest of in Gaia’s belly,

a message of hope and prosperity

for mankind to understand the eternal cycle

to cherish and to protect it with care

for the next generations.

Happy Easter Everyone!

This is a re-post from last year. 🙂
